WBI has developed a fibrin based tissue
adhesive/hemostatic agent. Shown are two full thickness skin incisions treated
with conventional sutures (top) versus the tissue adhesive (below). A much
better cosmetic result is obtained.


Used as a topical hemostatic agent, the fibrin based
material is employed as a dry powder. In direct comparisons with a commercially
available and complicated to use conventional tissue adhesive (T), the fibrin
based tissue agent (FM) and the fibrin based agent with Aprotinin (FMA) both
yielded significantly shorter bleeding times using a model of splenic
injury.
