Wound Dressings
WBI has developed a fibrin based tissue adhesive/hemostatic agent. It
has been incorporated into wound dressing systems for controlling bleeding and
eliminating the need for skin sutures. Shown are two full thickness skin
incisions treated with conventional sutures (top) versus the tissue adhesive
containing wound dressing (below). A much better cosmetic result is
obtained.

Hemostatic Agent
Used as a topical hemostatic agent, the fibrin based material is employed as
a dry powder. In direct comparisons with a commercially available and
complicated to use conventional tissue adhesive (T), the fibrin based tissue
agent (FM) and the fibrin based agent with Aprotinin (FMA) both yielded
significantly shorter bleeding times using a model of splenic injury.
